The film launched a 1980’s dance craze and a great soundtrack. “I carried a watermelon” has managed to work its way into urban lexicon. Baby says the phrase to Johnny when she is dumbfounded while delivering a watermelon to the entertainers private party. Baby is in awe of Johnny and that phrase is all she can manage today. If you say “I carried a watermelon”, it can be interpreted as saying something really uncool when you meet someone good looking. “

Growing up, I was surrounded, on both sides of my family, by artists of all genres. Graphic artists, painters, in oil and acrylic, photographers, musicians, quilters, sculptors. This instilled an interest and excitement for art that I was only able to pursue from time to time throughout my life. Now, recently retired, I have rediscovered that enthusiasm and have time to pursue what I love through the mediums of watercolor, alcohol ink, charcoal and photography.
