Artist's Description

“Everyone who is a fan of the 1987 movie “Dirty Dancing” which was remade in 2017 remembers some of the famous lines from the film. “Nobody puts Baby in the corner”, “Go back to your playpen Baby” and “I carried a watermelon”.

The film launched a 1980’s dance craze and a great soundtrack. “I carried a watermelon” has managed to work its way into urban lexicon. Baby says the phrase to Johnny when she is dumbfounded while delivering a watermelon to the entertainers private party. Baby is in awe of Johnny and that phrase is all she can manage today. If you say “I carried a watermelon”, it can be interpreted as saying something really uncool when you meet someone good looking. “

While I have had no formal training, I have learned a great deal from a wonderful artist and teacher at our local community college whose encouragement and love of all art has given me wings and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find...
